James Ward – Managing Director

I am an entrepreneur, company director and a technical expert in AV custom install, with a passion for technology and gadgets.

At Electric String, I have developed a company that is now established as one of the leading AV companies in the UK and Europe with expertise in luxury marine, commercial and high residential audio visual projects.

After earning a master’s degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, I began my career as a R&D Engineer and worked my way up to senior management, helping to produce stunning systems for some of the world’s most prestigious superyachts and residencies.

As the operations director at audio visual specialist Electric String, I am in charge of ‘getting the right things done’.

I ensure that the team and our clients have everything they need and use my expertise as an audio visual installation specialist to help deliver award-winning projects across the Marine, Corporate, Residential and Retail sectors.

My passion for delivering clever electronics and technology to enhance lives and spaces began early in my career as a sound engineer producing temporary and permanent sound and visual installations for concerts, conferences and exhibitions.

Rob Sullivan – Commercial Director

‘Treat people well and you will get on well in life’ – one of the many essential life skills my parents instilled in me that has helped me become the well-brought up person I am today, as well as a successful businessman.

From reaching out to new clients to maintaining existing relationships, as commercial director at Electric String, I am in charge of ensuring the company lives up to its reputation as a leading AV company with an expertise in luxury marine, commercial and high residential audio visual projects.

Hollie Phillips – Office Manager

I am responsible for ensuring the Electric String office runs as smoothly as possible; overseeing a range of administrative, clerical, financial and managerial tasks.

Leading and managing a busy and dynamic office team, I utilise strong operational management skills to make sure everything functions efficiently.

With a strong background in the super yacht industry, I bring to Electric String fantastic marine knowledge and skills, including effective project support, client account supervision and supply chain and sales administration.

Edd Stonham – Technical Services Manager

As Electric String’s Technical Services Manager, I am responsible for managing audiovisual projects from scope to delivery, working in partnership with the directors to ensure the company always delivers the highest standards of customer service.

Working in the consumer electronics industry for more than 25 years, I have vast experience and knowledge in producing detailed client proposals and technical plans. I am passionate about solving problems and will think outside the box to produce the perfect solution for every client by identifying what it is they really need.

I have enjoyed travelling across the world to support installations, events and training sessions and will readily share my experiences and expertise.

Liz Stewart – Management Accountant

In my role at Electric String, I am responsible for preparing, developing and analysing key financial information to ensure the company runs smoothly during a time of rapid growth.

As a FCCA (Fellow Chartered and Certified Accountant) with more than 12 years of experience in accountancy, I am responsible for producing high-quality monthly management accounts and monitoring the cash flow for Electric String.

Working for a company that is expanding quickly, I often have something new and unexpected to consider each day and enjoy the challenge of adapting to changing circumstances.

Lizzie Witty

Lizzie Witty – Office Administrator

Organised, resourceful and brilliant at juggling multiple tasks;  as Electric String’s Office Administrator I work closely with all the team to ensure everything runs efficiently.

I work across incredibly varied tasks, looking after everything from purchasing to organising travel for team members. I have brilliant telephone skills and handle day-to-day dealings with suppliers and customers. I also assist with stock control and general company logistics.

Martyn-Capp

Martyn Capp – Project Manager

I joined Electric String as a Project Manager in July 2016.  My role is extremely varied as I manage the day to day movement of engineers in the North and South of England.  My role involves managing the scheduling of all the UK and overseas projects and instructing procurement.  I also manage budgets and the planning & implementation of project plans.  Managing client expectations to the stage of the project is also key to my role.

I thrive on my role being a highly pressured position and I get great pleasure seeing the projects succeed and being completed to a very high standard.  As a team we have a very tight knit relationship which is imperative in meeting our clients’ expectations and I enjoy driving this and working on a variation of projects.

My role enables me to draw on my qualifications I have gained, which include Prince 2 qualified, AMX Programming 1, AMX Design Expert, ITIL qualified, Pasma,  IPAF, CSCS and SSSTS.

Neil Fill – Client Project Support

In my role at Electric String, my main responsibility is to create AV project proposals. Once we have established the client’s requirements a system design is created.  I then enter the kit required for a proposal using a piece of software called D-Tools.

As I am the main go between for the Office team, Operations and Sales. I have excellent communication skills and I help to ensure all aspects of the projects run efficiently.

My role is extremely varied, which makes it highly interesting, as no project is the same, which has given me the ability to multi-task and act upon any changes quickly and effectively.

While working at Electric String I have received in-house training on the software and processes used and also external training from CEDIA.

Neil Fill
Harry Moylan

Harry Moylan – Lead Engineer

As Lead Engineer at Electric String, I ensure that all our installations meet the company’s high standards of delivering a first-class service on every project.

I manage the on-site team ensuring that project deadlines are met and all engineers are fully briefed. Working closely with the Project Manager and the technical team, I work on site surveys prior to install, communicate on-site progress and ensure we comply with all Health & Safety rules and regulations.

Since working at Electric String, I have worked my way up from Junior Installer to my current role as Lead Engineer, working with a variety of clients across the commercial, residential and marine industries, with my main focus on commercial AV.

My role is very varied on a day to day basis, but I still get the most enjoyment from knowing how technics work, inspecting electronic detail to ensure the sound and picture quality is the best it can be, solving system issues and making sure there is a smile on our clients’ faces when a job is complete.

Emily Halsey – Office Apprentice

My role at Electric String is as an Office Apprentice, which consists of office and administration duties, while learning in accordance to the apprentice training framework.

My main responsibilities consist of dealing with both suppliers and customers, assisting with purchasing, booking and organising business travel, using the diary system, answering the phone, assisting with stock control and logistics, data input and extraction, general office duties and looking after visitors.

George West – Control Systems Programmer

I have been working with Electric String since the Autumn of 2016, working with a variety of clients across our 3 main sectors; Residential, Marine and Commercial.  As a trainee with Electric String, I am working towards achieving the Crestron Certified Programmer certification.

I have had an interest in programming for the past 7 years and I really enjoy designing a system, programming it and then seeing the end result working.  Within my role with Electric String I am shadowing Edd Stonham to ensure my training is of a high standard.  I really enjoy the variety of work involved, but I feel the greatest achievement comes from seeing my programming working, especially in complicated programs.

Lynsey Blanchard – Office Administrator

As one of Electric Strings Office Administrators my role is very varied, covering both general office and account duties. I deal with purchase invoicing, keeping accurate time sheet details, dealing with expenses, ensuring records are accurate and up to date and co-ordinating travel arrangements for the team.

Gregory Finnerty – Audio Visual Engineer

As an Audio Visual Engineer at Electric String I am responsible for building and programming equipment racks for Audio, Visual and Home Automation Systems for both commercial and residential properties. I also support with Network Management, servicing equipment and providing on-going updates for clients alongside support plans.

I am a keen Engineer with a love of all things audio and visual.  My role allows me to progress my passion for technology, which has been my ambition from a very young age. Along with a Degree in Electrical Engineering I am also Crestron, Lurton and Control4 Engineer trained. I work hard to keep up to date with the latest technological advancements to make sure I am always at the forefront of cutting edge engineering developments.

Alex Hornett – Technical Support Engineer

In my role at Electric String my main responsibility is to provide technical documentation to assist both internal departments and clients. Alongside this I am responsible for providing accurate and timely technical support to internal and external customers via telephone, email or via our support system.

My role is extremely varied, which makes it highly interesting, as no project is the same, this has given me the ability to multi-task and act upon any changes quickly and effectively.
